# What are dual-drilled wheels and how do they work?
## Dual-drilled wheels feature two bolt patterns, allowing them to fit a wider range of vehicles without compromising strength or safety.
### What Are Dual-Drilled Wheels and How Do They Work?
If you’ve come across the term **dual-drilled wheels** and wondered what it means, you’re not alone. It sounds technical, but the concept is actually pretty simple.
A **dual-drilled wheel** is designed with *two different bolt patterns* built into the same wheel. This means the wheel has two sets of lug holes, allowing it to fit a wider range of vehicles.
For example, a wheel labeled **6x5.5 / 6x135** would have twelve total lug holes - six for each bolt pattern. This gives you more flexibility when matching wheels to different trucks or SUVs.
The big question most customers ask is: *Are dual-drilled wheels as strong as single-drilled wheels?* The answer is yes. Dual-drilled wheels go through the same rigorous testing and durability standards set by the manufacturer. They are built to be just as safe and reliable as wheels with a single bolt pattern.
If you’re unsure whether a dual-drilled wheel is right for your vehicle, our team is always happy to help confirm fitment and walk you through your options.
